Roster Export
The chore
Every grading period brought the same copy-and-paste routine before comments could start. Roster Export builds the documents straight from Canvas.
The fix
Canvas class lists in; one comment Doc per class out, with a tab for every student.
Lives in
A “Canvas Tools” menu in Google Sheets.
Makes
A Drive folder with one comment Doc per class and a tab per student.
How it works
A “Canvas Tools” menu appears in Google Sheets.
The teacher picks their classes, and Roster Export pulls each class list from Canvas.
It builds a Drive folder with one comment Doc per class and a tab for every student, ready for comments.
The Roster Export dialog loads classes from Canvas, the teacher ticks three, and it creates three comment Docs with links. Demo data.
- At 0 seconds:Classes load straight from Canvas.
- At 1.2 seconds:Tick the classes that need comments.
- At 3.7 seconds:One click starts the build.
- At 5.4 seconds:A comment Doc per class, a tab per student.
